So I was planning to post some new outfits for all of you this week, buuut I've been incredibly sick since last Monday and I just couldn't keep up. I'm really sorry to have left you guys sort of high and dry!

I don't know if I've ever told you guys this before, but I actually have a stomach condition that causes a lot of pain and discomfort, so I don't usually have a lot of energy when I'm fighting a flare-up like this one. I am hoping to do a hair and makeup tutorial/video when I'm feeling a little better though, but until then I thought I'd share a shot from a fun makeup shoot I did a while back! It was inspired by vintage circuses and John Galliano's SS08 Ready-to-Wear show - my favorite, as you all know already lolol - as well as a makeup editorial I saw once, but can't seem to find now. (I wish I could, 'cause it's an amazing beauty spread!)

I'm not usually fond of clowns, but I thought I made a pretty cute, harmless one XD

The last few days have been so busy, but so much fun! I apologize for not posting in favor of making mischief with my good friend, Molly. Right now I am sitting in her amazing bedroom, talking fun girl stuff with her and her long-time friend (and my new friend) Bri. Anyhoo! Molly and I have been up to some really exciting things, including planning a trip to LA next weekend, which has been a long-time coming! So you can bet I will have tons and tons of fun posts and photos for you guys. We're going to be shooting with some really amazing photographers while we're there, we're also hoping to visit Huntington Beach (my home-town) and get some shopping in. I also have a really important meeting that unfortunately I can't discuss right now, but I will have plenty of juicy details for you next week! :}

On Saturday, I'm going to be shooting with Jeanatte Salazar who is a really, really talented photographer here in Sac. (She took that photo above :D) Well, technically Roseville, but whatever. Lolol... I love Jeanatte. Not only is her work awesome, but she's such a great person too! We always have so much fun when we shoot together and I'm super excited about updating my portfolio with some newer, fresher looks. That shot above is one of my personal favorites that we've ever created, because we based the look on the Smoky Eye and Rhinestone Lip one used in the John Galliano SS08 Ready-to-wear show, which as you all know is one of my all-time favorite shows to date! Lol!

Anyhoo! I will definitely try to get in an outfit post (or something of equal fun) for you guys tomorrow or Saturday!

In the meantime... Do you guys have any fun plans for the weekend? :}

Dreaming of a Retro Island Getaway.

As I'm sitting at my computer waiting for my afro to dry, I find myself falling over and over again, head-over-heels in love with the Christian Dior SS11 Ready-to-wear line. I'm a huge fan of vintage, especially from the early to mid century, so when I saw that the collection incorporated 40s and 50s styles into modern couture looks on the runway, I couldn't help but swoon, but of course; why wouldn't I? When John Galliano is the genius behind the collection, hm?

My favorite looks had to have been from the evening wear, here are just a few of them:

This is my favorite kind of Galliano: ultra feminine and vintage-inspired. Don't get me wrong, I love all of his work, but I do prefer his softer, womanly looks over his harder edged ones; and this ready-to-wear line he designed for Christian Dior, from its sailor inspired suits (complete with sailor hats) to its hula cutie cuts, is nothing short of chic. I applaud Galliano and CD for their subtle hints of Atomic, Hawaiian prints and punches of electrifying Kool-Aid colors, something thats been missing from a lot of the other Spring and Summer shows this season, which have for the most part shied away from the warm and hot; sticking to mostly cool, muted pastels and vintage flowery prints.

I especially love the styling and mood of the show, which was reminiscent of a retro island getaway and inspired thoughts of volcanic goddesses, surfing with Duke Kahanamoku, and sacrificing cheesecake cuties to the mighty King Kong. As a model who dabbles part time in pin-uppery, I am just downright in love with these styles and I'm looking forward to incorporating them into my Spring/Summer wardrobe! (I'm also severely missing my 'Bettie' fringe right now lol) So whether you'll be in Hawaii or Tahiti drinking Rum and Coke-a-cola or not, I think every lady could do herself a favor this Summer with at least one of these tropical looks in their closet...

Blast From The Past.

With all the talk of fashion week, I can't help but reminisce about some of the amazing collections that have previously graced the runway. It got me thinking about which ones I admired most... And one of my hands-down, all-time favorites EVER had to have been John Galliano's Ready-to-wear from Spring/Summer 2008.

Ever the theatrical snob, John Galliano's pieces flounced down the boardwalk in a scene right out of the history book pages of the prohibition era; with obscure songstress Robyn's old time-y "Jack You Off" at the top. It set the stage for a very nostalgic show, which seemed more like a 1930s stage revue with its glitz and glam and subtle hints of classic burly-q. The models looked like black and white cartoon characters colorfully come-to-life as they frolicked, some hand-in-hand, in vintage-inspired cuts, frothy tulle, and feminine lace, through a magical, made-up world that Galliano and his genuis art director conjured up for us; complete with seagulls, a working carousel, and very real, very cute sailors. Welcome to Boardwalk Empire with a just little more glitter (alright, a lot more).

You wanna see how John Galliano does business, show your face in Paris again <3
